"Underwater" (unreleased song)
Hello again everyone, I’m back this week sharing another unreleased song from the voice memo vault on my phone. I’ve been struggling to write too many new things that I’m proud of lately probably due to putting a larger focus on some other big projects I’m working on at the moment. I haven’t really given myself several weeks of time to just prioritize writing…I find that my best stuff comes from that momentum of focus.
But alas, I still want to share something today, so I’ll bestow this tune upon you entitled “Underwater”
I wrote this one a few months ago and thought it was decent enough to voice memo it, but I don’t think it’ll ever be released because it sounds too similar to another song in my opinion. (bonus points if you can guess what song it sounds like)
There are a lot of words in this one…more words than I normally include in a song. I think it’s largely about trying to reclaim sanity and perspective, and getting too “lost in the sauce” as the kids say. Also a bit of learning how to see your crisis’ as a part of the solution you may be looking for. You can drown underwater…but the open sea can also be the most beautiful and serene of places, and the combination of that danger and tranquility both found in the same source I think can also represent the mind, and how we can drive ourselves crazy with thought, but also experience all of the joys of life and the world through shifting our perspective’s.
